Waiting under Manchester Road

This shows the underside of the Manchester Road bridge over the Peak Forest Canal.

Last month I showed you the approach to the bridge, and last year the view from the other side.

A view from 2000 can be found on Old Hyde.

I noticed that you have a lot of pictures of buildings.
I love them too and this bridge is very nice. Interesting to see under it...
My favourite picture of your blog so far :)

Nice photo, Gerald. I love photos taken thru tunnels or archways.

Beautiful photo.

Is this area iconic of Hyde?

Hi Gerald,

Pity you don't run with the theme! On the other hand, when i think of Hyde i think of that murderous doctor :)

And sometimes when I think of these kinds of bridges I think of nefarious things! Too many BBC murder and cop shows I think!

You are cordially invited to return to Sydney for a reconsideration of the Opera House and its place in people's thoughts!

The old boats would go through these almost touching the sides wouldn't they. Do they still?

Ineke yes I fear you are right which is why I decided not to do the theme this month - but if you want to know more about Shipman you can read my account at http://www.geraldengland.co.uk/gx/shipman.htm

Sally it does look a little scary - my friend Tom posted a comment about someone murdered near the canal on an earlier picture from the area.

Lynn I'm sure you are right - it is still well used by narrowboats.

Jilly - by a complete coincidence, I have posted a photo looking through a tunnel-like bridge today on my Ashton photo blog (see first link on the right).

If you really like tunnels, have a look at this page on another of my sites here.

Nice photo, Gerald. Like, Jilly, I like photos taken through tunnels, archways, bridges, etc.
To answer your question. . .Yes, Nyle Frank does still live in Nashville, from what I can tell.

Hi Gerald, I was here the other day, Aldi are making a new Super Market right there on the left where the Engineers shop used to be.. The same to have done quite a bit of work there already.

That fence looks like a recent "Health & Safety" addition

I hope this road is for pedestrian traffic only!

(if you missed a golf course and an alligator on my post today, you must come back and enlarge the LEISURE photo ;-))

Gerald, I think you've done enough work on theme days and more to take a break once in awhile, although we do miss your participation! I remember this bridge from last year as well.

Thanks for stopping by Glasgow DP today :)

It looks very bright and sunny through the bridge - was this taken recently?

I was looking forward to seeing your post for theme day. When I didn't see Hyde listed, I thought oh no, is he not feeling well. Thanks for sharing the real reason.
I wish I could send you some of our snow. We received about 8 inches today.

This would be another good black and white shot with a tinge of color somewhere.
