First Daffodil of 2008
Spring has come early this year.
Our own group of daffs were starting to shoot up in mid-January. They are now showing yellow buds but are yet to fully flower.
I found this one in the garden of the Lower Higham Visitor Centre on Sunday.
There is another photo of it on Winter Haiku 2007.

Wow! Spring!
Nice shot of the 1st daffodil of the year. I think it will be a while before we see any.
You are lucky and I wish spring would get here as soon as yours.
Have a great day
I am waiting ... not so patiently ... for spring. Lovely capture of a lovely flower!
You're lucky!! It's still the middle of Winter here.
"Daffodils" (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).
Spring is in the air! I love it...my favourite season! Bit early though, isn't it?!
You could have made this ABC Wednesday.
When I was there two years ago, it was April for the Daffs
Beautiful and promising D! :)
How I envy you - I saw the first yellow of a crocus today! A brilliant D.
One of the first signs of spring. I love daffodils and this one is a beauty!
Daffodils are early this year. That's true.
The weather's been grey and miserable for so long that I now believe in that SAD syndrome.
The daffodils are a good antidote.
I am seeing a lot of these around our area.
Oh they have grown. That is a beautiful flower. Love the bright colour.
Been noticing a few around these parts as well. In response to your question about the paint on the instruments at the Fasnacht parade, the music is intentionally out of tune, so it probably helps!Greetings from Villigen.
You already have spring??? I'm looking forward to spring but I have to wait a couple of weeks.
Nice daffodilshot!
Spring into action for the week after next when we are headig for the North York moors with friends staying in a log cabin.
Nice photo Gerald.
Oh, lucky you! It's still very cold here :-(
Wow!! We have snow-storm here were I live! Nice photo!
Have a nice day:)
oh wow, i guess the groundhog doesn't apply where you are. Lucky you. We are hoping for nicer weather
Wow. I did't see this ones yet.
Spring is on its way but aren't the evenings cold?
Brrrrrrrrrr!
Nice daffodil! I have some also but they are from last spring. Not so much as a crocus here!
Oh I wish it was spring here .. it snowed last nite and today its raining .. FEH .. thanks for the glimpse into spring!
I have daffodils today too but mine are from last year. I am anxiously awaiting spring since I didn't get the snow I wanted. . .
Ah, the simple daff. The best flower to see as you know better things are to come (weather wise!)
Beautiful photo, beautiful hai¨ku.
Miss Yves
I did'nt remember who wrote "daffodils"...I have found the answer on your blog!
Miss Yves
My daffodils are out too - the earliest they've ever been!
Oh how lovely! No daffs yet in Glasgow that I've seen, though I saw snowdrops at the weekend and my first crocuses today.
Lovely photo - enjoyed the Haiku link!
it will be quite awhile before we see daffodils here. Very nice.
I would love for spring to come, if only I were through with loving winter. Such mixed feelings. I will watch for the first daffodil and the first pelican. The first robin has been here already.
I am very jealous! We won't have any blooms for about a month.
Springtime! Yippee!
Had any snow at all this year Gerald?
The bulbs are coming up early.
Thanks for your recent comments

Thanks for your nice comment on my blog!
Have a good weekend!
Ah... England. I love your weather and season. Still in the middle of Winter here.
I haven't seen daffodils yet outside...only in the garden stores and flowershops...
Still waiting here though.
