Shadow Shot Sunday
Switching On

This is the fifth of six photographs taken at the switching on of the Christmas lights outside Hyde Town Hall.

The area in front of the Town Hall was cordoned off and only people involved in the event were allowed through. Lady Gonegaga had just finished her act and Mossley Brass Band were now entertaining the crowd. The lights from the stage cast shadows around the Hyde Seal.

So nice in B&W. The shadows are more distinct and without colour, the black and white figures are accented as well.

I like the B&W too. This looks like a stark place, as all await the lighting. The viewer can feel the anticipation of the lighting to commence shortly...

Love the black and white! It does accent the shadows in a more distinct way than with color. Terrific capture for the day! Hope you have a great weekend!

Black and white brings out details that colour distracts us from I find.

Magical moments when the lights are lit and send their glow far and wide. Good tones in this B&W were it in colour it wouldn;t have the same effect.

Beautiful shot. I agree with the others, the black and white picture does enhance the shadows. Thanks for sharing!!

Nice choice to eliminate the color! I also couldn't help but wonder if Lady Gaga is annoyed with Lady Gonegaga's use of a part of her name.
