The Cutting Edge of Market Street

Just above Nelson Street is the cutting edge of Market Street.

The Lawnmower shop has been here as long as I've known Hyde although I've never had the occasion to visit its premises.

Select Cuts is a relatively new enterprise (two or three years) run by one of the new breed of gentleman's hairdressers who prides himself on doing a thorough professional job.

Next door is another well established business, Bob Butler's veterinary surgery. I wonder how many dogs and cats have had a snip here over the years.

Very funny Gerald.... I had to have a dog put down at that vets many many years ago.... and the Lawn Mower shop as always sold bikes as well... at one time my son was always there for inner tubes and back tires. If I get up that way now it tends to be the Shephards for a pint or two with Eddie The Landlord.

Hmmm, it must be a busy spot with all the business going 'round!

Hi Gerald and Tom. The lawnmower shop used to be many years ago (unless I am going senile), Oldhams toy shop. I can still remember going in there many times for Dinky Toys and I remember Mr & Mrs Oldham extremely well. They used to have a small motorcycle display in the window on the left. The vets used to be called Andersons, my Mum worked there when I was a little lad some years ago. MANY YEARS ACTUALLY!
