As I reported last July in
Signs of the Time both the
Abbey and the
Bradford & Bingley are now part of the
Santander banking group which is currently about to rebrand its UK branches which also include the
Alliance & Leicester.

So now we have two branches of the same bank just a cockstride from each other on the Market Place.

Well, I think they are shooting themselves in the foot by getting rid of such well-known and respected brand names and replacing them with an unfamiliar name.
Consignia, anyone?
They can't long survive with that kind of marketing.
Yes one is likely to close soon ... but what will replace it ?? Another charity shop??
Bitingmidge is correct, we have the same situation here and I was thinking the other day how long this will remain so.
I know someone who works at HQ Bradford and Bingley at Bingley how long for though?
This has only come about because Santander did not play the banking game as practised here in UK.
