Closed Door
On previous Heritage Open Days I've been down to Hyde Theatre Royal Onward. I first went in 2006. I was there again in 2007 and in 2008. You will find photographs from all these visits in my Theatre Royal Album.
This year, alas, there was a notice pinned on the door saying that the owners of the building had refused access. The Trust who are fighting hard for the future of the theatre were given only a couple of day's notice. The owner is a "property tycoon" whose companies are registered on the Isle of Man but whose accounts are conducted from the Virgin Isles.
The website of the Trust is not operating at present. This is due to problems with the previous hosting company. They hope to have it back online shortly.
[edit March 2012] The Trust now have a new website at http://www.hydetheatreroyal.co.uk/
Today the CDPB theme is Doorways: Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

great doorway but also a story of trying to save and use a wonderful historic place. i hope this works out.
It's a very nice, though seen better days doorway. I hope the Trust get's things straightened out.
I really like the rose colored door; it seems to have quite a story, too! Happy Theme Day!
I like this color, but if Mick Jagger saw this red door he would want it painted black.
From your 2006 photo, the interior is lovely. I hope they get this mess resolved so it will be open to the public again.
Thank you for your comment. I don't think I can live without curtains either.
Well let's hope this vital doorway is open once again. MB
juat adorable, congratulations for so beautiful shot!

Sad. Hopefully the Trust will provell and the doors will once again open for the Theatre Royal.
Great doors, image all the people and stories that have passed through. It's hard to run a business and keep up with all the rules. Being registered in the islands implies that they don't like following rules in the first place. I hope it gets resolved either way and the doors can open again. Thanks for the story!

The photos are always great but the tale behind them makes them magnificent.
Hello from Holland. Nice door!
Despite the sad state of affairs, the doors are still quite beautiful! I really like that color.
doorway for girls ;-)
Very sad to see and read this Gerald....
Nice coloured door Gerald, it looks as tho its in use, but old looking too.
Great faded door for the theme.
Hope the building isn't knocked down by the owners.
