Hyde Mill Tower Demolished

I reported at the end of May that Hyde Mill was due to be demolished.

The process has now begun. The first thing to go has been the iconic Hyde Mill Tower. I was passing yesterday in a taxi and managed to get a couple of photographs through the window.

The other one can be viewed on Hyde DP Xtra.

I never realised it had been started... I only have to look out of the back bedroom window to have seen this... I was out around Matley Lane yesterday... I tried to get a bearing on a church in the distance and tried to see the tower.... I should have realised then demolation had started.. I will have to walk down there.

This is really a shame! The mill didn't look too old to be renovated. And doesn't an old historic building have so much more atmosphere and patina than a newly built?ous

Sure they could have done something with the building other than knocking it down? The dome of the tower with HYDE on it looked quite iconic.

It's a pity indeed, the building façade is so interesting!
