Autumn view of St John's

A few weeks ago I posted a picture of the tower of St John's, Godley.

Today I am showing you a little more. This view is looking Westwards from across Sheffield Road.

Sheffield Road was once a busy thoroughfare, but it was cut in two by the building of the M67, so now this section is a leafy cul-de-sac of large houses across from the church.

In answer to questions made in previous comments; it was built in 1847 and is still a very active community church.

Good to see a building still in use. This is a wonderful image and could have been a major contender for you image of the year.

This is such a pretty church and a beautiful fall scene.

It's beautiful. And if it's now a cul de sac, it must be very peaceful too. I wouldn't mind living in an area like it.

Love the way you have framed the church with the tree Gerald. Thanks for letting me know it is active.

This looks so mysterious from across the road. I'm dying to go across to explore! Lovely photo.

Its a great looking building. I bet the residents of the street are happier its a cul-d-sac now, although how close is the motorway?!

What a majestic building. Wonderful that it's still used too!
