Scout Moor Wind Farm
Scout Moor Wind Farm can be clearly seen from the higher parts of town.
It lies some 20 miles to the North on the moors beyond Rochdale towards Rawtenstall.
A gallery of photographs showing the construction of the farm can be found on the Geograph site.

I've personally seen one good sized wind farm in Alberta. And I've seen a very large wind farm near Palm Springs in California.
Any time it is suggested that a wind farm be created here it seems to generate (yeah, a pun) a great deal of controversy. I think they're great and much more attractive looking than say, hydro transmission towers.
Not a place for Don Quixote, though! Nice Sky Watch!
This is great!
They must be very effective considering the amount of wind in the UK. I once saw some from the Isle of Walney. They appeared top be standing right out in the Irish Sea.
very scenic indeed
We have something similar here close to San Francisco called Altamont Pass Wind Farm with 4900 wind turbines. It's always fun to see when I pass by that area.
I have also seen the Palm Springs wind farms, there are very few in British Columbia, the first ones are coming on line in the north of the province.
Is this the future? I applaud the use of windfarms, just we have to be care ful for our poor wildlife where they are stationed. I know aksing the impossible.
Interesting photo for SWF. I become a bit of a wind farm at times!
Great view, they are everywhere I guess it is the future.
