Newton Hall from the rear.

I've shown you Newton Hall from the front before, and I've even shown you the beams inside, but today I thought I'd show it you from the rear.

So here we have a 14th century building with a convenient 21st century addition.

I don't know if those are damp patches on the wall or an attempt to whitewash over some graffiti.

The building is actually surrounded by modern industry including some space-age technology.

My other ABC-Wednesday N posts this week are ~~ Newton Bank Printworks at Old Hyde ~~ No Smoking at Ackworth born, gone West ~~ No Through Road at Sithenah

I do wish they wouldn't add the modern bits to these wonderful old buildings.

I agree with Mo, if they must add--come up with a design plan that respects the original structure.

A venerable house surrounded by modern industry. I`m glad we keep some of the old, all over the world. We have to! Not everything is ment to be new and modern. We can`t forget how our ancestors lived. But, honour them. I like the beams inside. Rustic and nice.

Interesting to see things from more than one view. NOT bad!

Lovely place. Thanks for the links to your older posts, too - makes it even more interesting.

That's definately whitewash. Leave old buildings alone.Without the modern(yuk!)appendage, it's almost Manx.Like the choice of the rear view.

Very Neat. If I had thought a bit, I should have taken a picture of Isaac Newton's grave in Westminster Abbey since I have just returned from London. A post on him would have been highly appropriate.

I agree, leave it be - a fine old structure should remain unfettered from modern day (improvemens). Good choice for N.

By US standards, I'd say that is an historic looking building :-)

Gerald, I've looked at and read all four of your N posts--good job, great variety. I agree with you about the smokers. Would that mankind had not picked up that vice.

When I was a kid Newton Hall was a barn in the farmyard. It had a cobbled yard and a very old farm. I used to go there to buy milk and eggs.It was when they were pulling the barn down that they discovered the remains of the old hall.
