Following the completion of the new building on Reynold St, Crook St is now re-open to traffic.
We've been following the progress of events here over the past twelve months. This is probably the last in this series of posts:
- JNH store to be demolished
- Ready for demolition
- Demolition on its way
- Old building gone altogether
- Foundations down
- Work proceeding
- Scaffolding
- You have been warned
- Building rising up
- Work on Reynold Street
- The Court Rises
- Mortar delivery
- Roof goes on
- Flats rising up behind the Church
- Where is my wheelbarrow?
- New Apartments Taking Shape
- Nearing Completion

Really interesting to follow the progression of work.
Amazing really how they do it.
That was really interesting to go back through the progress. Thanks for that!

I remember this one, it looks like it ended up ok - has a nice traditional look.
Well I'm glad thats done Gerald..
I prefer the ones on Dowson road myself ;o)
You did a good job of posting the before, during and after of the building. Thanks for sharing the photos. :)
This is a great series of shots-- very interesting to see the whole process. the final product is not so bad although the old building was nice looking.
What a wonderful set of pictures. P
This is what I've tried to do in Nyack--but maybe they demolish things at night or something. Probably not, but anyway, they clear the wreckage away pretty fast. I have missed major teardowns, even though I am always walking through town!
Once while staying in Letterkenny in Co. Donegal, I drove into town and thought--something is wrong -- sure enough a BEAUTIFUL old building that stood at the entry to the town center was now a cleanly swept vacant lot-- they took it down and carted it away at night because there was so much local outcry to save the building. People were so sad that day, it was like a death.
We all know where Tom's going to retire to then!
What an interesting story of the progress.
DW she's slowly on the mend, phew! bless her.
