No sunflowers this year

Last year the flower-bed at the side of the Town Hall on Greenfield Street had a lovely display of sunflowers.

Here is what is there now, and the adjacent toilet blocks are closed down.

Do you think they pulled them out or they just didn't bloom? How pretty yellow would be in this picture.

I suppose the woodchips and bushes are easier to look after rather than flower beds, but maybe the bushes will come in handy for hiding behind now the toilets are closed

Maybe they thought the gay abandonment of sunflowers didn't reflect their image as much as this formal garden?

I think the budget only allows so many flowers and plots to be maintained, Dukenfield Church and Ashton church have birthday beds this year which have taken a lot of work to look as good as they are.
As for the toilets, yes that is a shame, one is now left to use the ones in Asda, or to cross the main road back to the in door market. Saying that I never liked using the town halls toilets, it always was a strange place to hang out ;)

Sunflowers would have been nice here.

A belated congrats on your 500th post!

This is a very uniform and symmetrical landscape. Sunflowers would cheer it up a bit.

The other display was indeed much prettier, but probably took a lot of care and watering. Oh how i wish our government buildings would take the time to beautify the outside of their premises! :(
