Three Golden Balls
Three golden balls are the traditional sign seen over a pawnbroker's shop.
These are not ancient but of very recent appearance over a jewellers on Market Street.
Another set can be seen a few doors down over the "Cash Generator" shop.
See them from the other side on Hyde DP Xtra.

I used to love seeing similar such signs portraying the type of business over a shop's doorway. I wonder why three balls over a pawn shop?
Possibly moving into better business times...
A pawnshop usually carries a sad note, something about a desperate person. This image makes it into an engaging abstraction.
Hello dear Gerald!
Adorable angle in this picture!
Have a nice weekend!

Bonjour Luxembourg
Interesting post. But, I'll second Denise's question.
"Cash generator"? Hmm, I think those days are over for the time being...
I once bought a really good camera in a pawn shop.... but that's the onlt time I ever set foot in one.
One of the older pawnbrokers in Edinburgh still had their traditional sign until a few months ago. I always meant to photograph it.
Thank you, btw, for adding me to Around the World.
Beautiful shot !! This is fantastic !!Great..Unseen Rajasthan
so pawnbrokers are a common sight in small towns? if you had n't explained their significance, i wouldn't have realised what they were
I bet their business is booming at the present time.
