Starting from Apethorn Lane

Recently I showed you the end of the line at Apethorn Lane where walkers and riders on the TransPennine trail need to leave the old railway line.

Here now we are looking back from there at the start of this section of the trail.

Riders and cyclists turn off at a signpost just after Green Lane Bridge directing them to Green Lane, whilst walkers can explore the track as far as the turntable near Godley Junction.

Well I hate to be prissy but I'm rather partial to this one than yesterday. Quite terrified me! Lovely light and link to the earlier image does add to the virtual walk.

This photo makes me want to take some free time and stroll down that lane. Looks so peaceful and quiet.

Hi Gerald! I should like to cycle here! BTW I still can't see mr Linky, so that I can't enter. I don't understand, what we have to do. Do we have to remove our header? Could you enlighten me about this problem?

Another spot I would be found in over 35 years ago. Back then the trains still ran there of course... but it was a great place for a young lad to explore. I would collect the coal that fell from the wagons. I also would walk the tracks towards the woods at Pole Bank... there were plenty of rabbits and wood pigeon to be caught and shot there.
