I like the name. I just backtracked on your posts to see if there was an explanation, and indeed there is. I was actually imagining a large circular piece of Cheshire cheese with a hole in the middle, but never mind, a canal route is still good!
It looks just like I would imagine it to look.
A lot of Pubs are getting makeovers here, like getting outdoor areas for the smokers (banned indoors), heard it said that some pubs were having a struggle over that way.
Gotta love those pubs.
My first visit. Like the blog.
Why are so many British Pubs painted yellow? We have more yellow pubs here than any other . The smoking ban has had a strange effect, some do better some not so. I too would have assumed like Ruby Cheshire Ring would be Cheese related.
very pretty image!
So glad it's 'open all day'!
It took me a while to understand what a 'public house' was. So that's where 'pub' came from! Cool! Learn something new everyday :)
Did I hear you say " its your shout" Gerald? lol.
Best place to be in tis cold weather is inside these walls. The cold we are experiencing should help a few more smokers to give up. Love finding the traditional pubs of London and learning about their history.
Re: Babooshka's comment -- Maybe the yellow draws people in, looks inviting. This one looked inviting to me, at least until I read some of the earlier commentary. I'm not the rough pub type.
