The steeple of St Stephen's Church, Bennett Street, Newton.

For a view of the whole building, check out the one on Rhodes Family History.

As a two-passport Australian Pom I love seeing photos from the UK. Your 'little' bank and your comment make me realise how we're all caught up in this Credit Crunch mess!

Beautiful steeple. I did a small series in black and white (film) on steeples. I should revisit these again and take the images digitally. I could take more images and expand on my original idea.

I have always been impressed by the many very fine churches you fine all over Britain. Even in very small communities which one should not think were able to afford it.

I find steeples fascinating, because they come in so many shapes and sizes. I've often thought of doing what Christy did, and just going around taking pictures of the variety of steeples that you find.

By the way, thanks for the comment you made. I changed my post about birds of prey to say I don't know what the bird that I'd identified as an eagle actually was. I'd still really like to know, and I'm hoping someone who knows about these things will come across my post and give me a clue.

Churches are always such interesting places for photographers, especially steeples. It's the lines. Pubs banks and churches, all struggling at this time. Strangely connected.
