Hyde Chapel Organ
The organ case at the rear of Hyde Chapel is part of the original design of the building. It is not connected to the present organ and is now merely a decorative screen.
The pipes on view were last heard in 1869.
As part of the tercentenary celebrations it is hoped the case can be restored. The case is meant to represent a 12th century style and mirrors the look of monastic furnishings of the period. It may be based on a screen at Cartmel Priory.

Nice shot!
The king of instruments. A pity it cannot be heard any more.
BTW I have moved the "Bridges between" to Visual Norway.
Did you say Cartmel? As in Cartmel races and near Grange Over Sands. I spent many a holiday in that village, staying in the square. I remember the Priory. I do hope the connection's is to Cartmel.
Good to see the casing, but agree it would be a pleasure to hear
Its lovely, glad they kept it in place. It'd be good to hear it working again.
