What an interesting old path/bridge thing i love it!
Both versions are great!
Excellent photo. I think the black and white makes it all the more special.
Ooh love the perspective!
very cool pic!
Oh, I love this bridge. Each time I cross a bridge (especially a long one) I am curious to know what is at the end of the bridge.
This structure is most uncommon to my eyes. Is it B & W? I thought of it as is. Wintery.
i am just wondering.. where does the path leads to?
suddenly i thought of harry potter! hmm i wonder why...
I was given the "You Make My Day Award" and I am now passing it to you. Please visit my blog to collect it. :)
It isn't a bridge; it is a narrow walled path. I'll be showing the bottom where it meets the path alongside the river at a later date. At the top is the canal towpath.
Alice - thanks for the award - I'm already displaying one award on this blog already so I probably won't display more, but it is nonetheless appreciated.
Great shot, Gerald - very atmospheric :) It is so wintery looking!
Gerald, I have not had the time to sort the history out of this path.…
There was many many years ago a body found handing by the side of this path, at the time it was thought to be a suicide. At that time suicides were not allowed to be buried in consecrated ground and the body was put in a shallow grave at a local cross roads... the deceased friends dug him up in the dead of night but were caught in the act. This went on and the body was for ever being dug up and reburied. Years later a man who was about to be hanged admitted to the murder. The story goes that by that time no one knew for sure where the body was last buried ... but in time bones were dug up when building and road widening was carried out.
I'd love to walk along it tomorrow - but it will probably still be raining.
Just read Wom's comment - so I might not bother.
Great photo and interesting that you've kept a few red bricks.
Hey, I like this one, A great narrow walled pathway in B/W with a tinge of brown moss on the wall and the tree.
Very well captured.
beautiful.
What a lovely shot - I love it in black and white.
I give this picture a thumbs up!
very cool pic, and great story from Mr T
I love this photo. I would so enjoy taking a walk here.
I like the tinge of color on the brick. Didn't notice it til I stared at it awhile.
