A Sunday Puzzle

A puzzle for you today. I'd like you all to rack your brains and tell me what this is. The most amusing and original comments will get a Christmas card and a Hyde DP photo. Anyone who guesses accurately will be awarded with a small book prize. The answer will be revealed on Wednesday morning when we make our 600th post.

Its Fabios hair being blown by a fan at a photo shoot.

OH, I mean a fan that moves wind. Not a fan that says sign by breast Fabio.

Doggie wagging his tail?

Wayne said...

Well, I don't know the terminology, but I think it is the crest of horse hair or something on some sort of official helmet worn by some sort of ceremonial person. You know, like might be found in a procession with the Queen.
Maybe?
Thanks,
Wayne

I feel certain that the other posters are wrong, it wouldnt be that easy. So, I will go for the sherlock thing, when you have eliminated all the obvious things, it must be a soft brush, cleaning the camera lens, let me know how to collect the prizes.

It's a Lhasa Apso that's heard someone say "Vet"

I think it's the fluffy tail-like plume on the front of a some sort of royal guard's tall hat, swinging to and fro as he marches properly along his appointed rounds. Or maybe he's on a horse which could mean you were on a horse, too, when you took the photo since you don't seem to be looking upwards at the angle you would be looking up at if you were standing on the ground, looking up at the tall hat of a man on a horse. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Hmmm i think it's Father Christmas' beard as he leans over to ask what you want this year.

Or... a horse's tail.

Are we allowed more than 1 guess? How about a cat's tail?

I'm ejoying the guesses from the others almost as much as the mystery.

Britney Spears' new wig?

It's the hair of the dog that you'll need after celebrating your 600th posting!

Actually I think it is the hair of your granddaughter, which is on the Christmas card you are going to send me, for guessing the right answer.

It's a model in the middle of a shampoo advert shoot, just at the bit where she shwooshes* her hair like they always do in the advert.

*yes it's a real word - I just created it :)

Its the plumage on the back of a cavalrymans helmet (I hope i explained it right).

oooh oooh oooh, its a doggy tail

I also thought of a horse's tail, or a girl's hair.

It's a good idea to post puzzles :-)

Maybe part of a painting. Looks like brush strokes to me.

Great competition, Gerald!

Santa Claus's chin wiskers - is my just for fun guess.

My true guess and first thought is a pony tail being blown by a gentle breeze.

Firstly, congratulations on the 600th post.

The photo looks like a young girl's hair.

a horse tail. great idea for a puzzle!

Elf beard. Great job on your approaching 600th post!!!

As others have said, I too think it's a 'ponytail', from one of the white horses you showed some days ago. Not amusing or original, so I won't be expecting a card.

I've a bit of a puzzle at mine too, but Gerald you may have to stay shtum as you'll prob get it straightaway!

I don't know who this is, but I love the photo!

Good contest - it looks like hair but the out-of-focus green is puzzling.
I'll be back!

Nikon said...

Ok, here goes :)
Water flowing over a damn or flowing down a waterfall. That would account for the green on the banks & the sun glint look. Ok, it's all a guess!!

a horse's tail?

My same guess but I'm adding Stonepit resevoir :)

It's definetly a tail of a horse!!! Great competition!!

Gerald, this is awfully difficult.
Just to be different, I'll say it's Camilla on her 600th birthday ?

Crafty Green Poet said...

I would say hair or a horses tail but I know its something more obscure...

Unmistakably, this is photo is of Santa's beard.

I believe we are viewing Santa's hasty backwards retreat from a open fire chestnut roast gone bad.

Elves singing Sleigh Ride in chorus: "At the fireplace while we watch the chestnuts pop
Pop! Pop! Pop!"

Santa shouting: "Run away"!

The answer will appear on my Ackworth born, gone West blog on Wednesday. That itself is a partial clue.

I didn't think it would be quite so difficult but I'm enjoying the answers.

I shall say now - yes it is a "tail" but not that of a horse!

You all have another 24 hours to come up with the answer.

its the tail of a mythical beast - unicorn, dragon, centaur, gnome, troll, griffin, satyr or the like

perhaps you secretly wear blonde wigs when the mood takes you, this is the wig as your head flicks round to check that you haven't missed out on any vital photo opportunities! (It is a well known syndrome, known as blogger's-flick, similar to mobile-thumb, suffered by teenagers from sending too many text messages!)
