This view up Market Street was taken in October before they started putting up the Christmas Lights. I thought it would be a good choice in order to celebrate our 600th post. You can compare it with a 1905 view on Old Hyde.
Thanks to all who took part in our Sunday Puzzle. It proved more difficult than I envisaged and no-one came up with the right answer. Ham, Dusty Lens and Isabella posted the most amusing comments. If they let me know their address privately, I'll send them a Christmas card. Actually anyone who wants can have one - just let me know by December 8th [see the contact page on my website http://www.geraldengland.co.uk/]
It is in fact the tail of a squirrel and you can view the critter over on Ackworth born, gone West.

Congratulations on your 600th post. Here's to the next 600! I would never have guessed that was a squirrel!
Happy 600th - that is an amazing number of posts!
Have more contests, too :)
Happy 600th. I've just past the 500 mark. Perhaps we could all send each other Christmas cards, as we're all members of the same family.
I pondered over the puzzle pic - but didn't come close - in spite of the abundance of squirrels on my bird feeder.
Congrats on the big six oh oh!
You deserve a medal! just caught up with the puzzling puzzle. PS. On the blog list is 'Scraps from Moscow', it is very interesting, am surprised to see it included tho.
WOW 600! thanks for inspiring us in a such consistency and hard work! Congrats Gerald!
It is nice to see that Market Street doesn't look too different. The Puzzle was a real puzzle! Congratulations on your 600th post!
Another great capture Gerald. I just saw your grave yard shot as well... my parents grave is just past the tree.
happy 600th post! such a funny result for the puzzle - and it was great taking part into!
Congrats on your 600th post! Something we 'newbies' can aspire to!
Thanks,
Wayne
Congrats on 600!
i love comparing a view with how it was a long time ago. Nice one.
And many congratulations on your 600th post. That's one big achievement.
The squirrel tail has us all fooled. Well done.
If no one got the answer to the picture, then my answer was the closest. If you recall my answer, I said it was a brush for the camera lens and they are made from squirrel hair.
