The Queen's Guard
We often see this guard dog on the flat roof at the side of The Queens.
Usually we hear before we see.

Ah, nice one, Gerald.
I can hear that one growl from here.
My friend Brian Hunter had the Queens for a number of years, whilst the pub was opened someone climbed up there and stole quite a bit of cash from the office.. so looks like a good idear to have a dog like that in view. I have worked in this pub for 5 different landlords in my time, the last time was when I was working the door for Brian when he was having a lot of trouble with drugs being sold.. I think it is a much quieter pub now.
I clicked on your link. And a glorious place it is!
I'm very sure no one tries to go, where 'the queen's guard' is on duty! Not even after a lot to drink.

I like this photo. I think it's the perfect shot of creative problem solving in action, especially after reading Old Tom Tigley's comment.
He looks like he could be very fierce!
For a moment I thought he is standing with his front legs on the chair and the hind legs on the table! till I clicked on the photo to see if indeed he was.
I thought that Mexico was the only country with roof dogs, but old wom tigley offered an explanaation that seems plausible. I take it that this is not a common practice?
