Something New in the Sky

Go down Corporation or Greenfield Street and you'll notice something new on the skyline.

The Jamai Mosque used to be an unpretentious building next to Asda.

Now it is being expanded into something larger and grander.

Discover what else is in the skies at Skywatch Friday.

Impressive - but I must admit that it reminds of gas-cylinders.

Mosques are now holding water?! There's a concept. Bring nature in-doors. Cool shot!

We don't have too many domes here. I guess those aren't onion domes, strictly speaking but I've often wondered how they are constructed. I'd like to watch the process, sped up of course.

I like the colour. Thanks Gerald.

That makes an interesting object to shoot with the sky! Maybe we'll see more in the future!

Hi! Glad to find your comment on my blog. I have browsed through your many site and saw very interesting photos and poetry!

Me again - re your comment. Yes, I went up in the eye (have wanted to since I saw it first in 2001). Each capsule takes around 15 people and the trip takes about 30 minutes. I took about 50 pictures, so the central part of London is well covered! You'll find another one here

Mosques were of course beacoming increasingly common site by the time left the midlands. Never seen any quite so emerald green though. One of the more unusual sites for skywatch this week.

Ahhh....the changing landscape of Great Britain!

Anonymous said...

How unusual. Haven't seen domes like these on a mosque before.
