Metal: Werneth Low View Marker

The City Daily Photoblog network theme for today is Metal.

The word makes me think of heavy engineering and in Hyde the one name that comes to the fore is Automasters. Their works on the banks of the Peak Forest Canal closed down in recent years.

Today Old Hyde carries a picture of the works at its peak in 1980, which was the year they manufactured and donated to the town, this view marker which stands at the top of Werneth Low.

And what is the view? As it is Skywatch Friday the best I can do is to refer you to my post from a sunny Sunday in February.

You can view thumbnails from nearly 200 participants to the theme on theCDPB portal.

That was an interesting instrument. I have heard of them, but I don't think I have ever seen one.

Congrats with the new layout!

Great one for SWF! If someone were to think that trees are made to support the sky, they would all seem too short.... mine's up too hope you can drop by.... Happy weekend!

I like the button in the middle. It makes me wanna press it. (child instinct?)

Have a very good start to August!
Happy Theme Day Gerald!

I love the view that you featured in Feb! That's brilliant of you to feature the metal photo here and link it to the sky where this photo is related too!

Happy Sky Watch Friday and Theme Day too!

I'm not sure that I understand this post, but perhaps it's just because it's late and I'm tired.

Gerald,

That's a nice viewmarker! Too bad the firm is not around anymore. Happens to the best, I guess.

Thanks for stopping by, and there's so much more to that tree. I didn't do it even half justice.
