Bags for Mothering Sunday

Today is Mothering Sunday, but usurped these days by commerce as Mother's Day. The price of flowers has doubled or trebled.

My picture is of a temporary gifts stall in Clarendon, and dedicated to bag-loving Lynn of Cheltenham. The bags on this side of the stall are all priced at a fiver. There are some more on the other side but the dearest one I saw was marked as £65 reduced to £30.

I'm known to be a bit of a handbag queen myself, but I'm not keen on these buckly, studdy, strappy ones too much! We have Mothers Day in may....it's when I like getting my annual fluffy slippers - just the right time of year when the early mornign and late night nip is in the air!

I rather like the photo of Marilyn below the display of handbags.

We do not celebrate Mothering Sunday which is on the 4th Sunday of Lent in Singapore.

But like Sally and Pat, we celebrate it in May, every 2nd Sunday in May. :-)

he he thank you Gerald! Honoured that you remembered my love of bags. Don't fancy the fiver ones, i'd go for the thirty quid one, knowing it had been worth more. You knew i'd do that, didn't you? LOL.

It's great to have bags available for a fiver though, imagine how many mummies will wake up to one of those today and, given by your child, it would be worth millions.

What kind of mother would want a Betty Boop handbag, I wonder? A hip mother, a retro mother, a young mother, a funky mother . . . all types I imagine a child would prefer not having.

Hi Gerald!

Would you please make SURE you don't see a black leather, backpack style in there...oh, and it would have a camera cellphone AND an iPod "Nano" AND a stuffed-to-the-gills turquoise walled in it...

If ya DO...SNAG IT...it's MINE and I want it BACK!

LOL! ;)

Happy Smothering Day!

Yip, Mother's Day is the 2nd Sunday in May here too - wonder if the cats will remember to get me anything this year? They're so good about remembering Father's Day... odd, that. :-D
