Hyde United Football Club
Affectionately known as The Tigers, Hyde United FC play in the Nationwide Conference North League. Their reserve team play in the Lancashire League.
A club called simply Hyde FC, formed in 1885, holds the dubious honour of suffering a 26-0 defeat at the hands of Preston North End in an FA Cup tie at Deepdale in 1887, still a record score for a competitive match in England.
The present club was formed in 1919.

As a Blackburn Rovers fan, I always hated Preston North End.
