Ethel Austin gone
Since I reported here in February that the Ethel Austin store was closing down, the deed has been done and now it has gone.

Sad...they sold such a classic line of clothes, and had been in business all those years, starting in the front room of her home in Liverpool.
I enjoyed shopping there.
aww. that is a shame. I always hate to see a nice business close down.
The recession continues...Sad to see this store close even if it doesn't directly affect «Louis» .
Another vacant shop in Hyde Gerald... it seems to be really going down hill at the moment...
It's a pity, I think it was a traditional store.

This is too bad. You did catch some nice reflections in the windows though.

We had a coffee in the Mall last week , where its owner was ranting about just that. The manager of the Mall had been around handing out surveys to the shops asking what they thought of the place.
What she said was, (or rather ranted, but she was right) is that without any decent stores to draw customers into Hyde, there isn't much chance of filling in the empty units with anything worth visiting.
Its a good point and with the other problem of course being the high rents.
It would be worth them throwing a few incentives in. It's not as if any money needs spending to smarten the area up as it looks well at the moment :>/
Ours have gone too. I didn't know that they had been going so long. I wonder why they didn't expand years ago when shopping was good, unlike now when high streets are dying.
