Zebra and Moon

In June I showed you the bent belisha beacon at the zebra crossing on Dowson Road and the men who came to repair it several days later.

So here we have it fully repaired and with the moon in the background.

Today's monthly theme for members of City Daily Photobloggers is Night. Since I rarely venture out after dark I didn't have any suitable shots until I took a late stroll on Thursday evening. I've now got around half a dozen night shots to show you over the coming weeks.

Meanwhile Click here to view thumbnails for all participants to the theme.

I wonder how zebra crossings translate around the world. Like you I rarely venture out after dark with the camera, unless it's for a work related nightshoot, but I have enjoyed it. Something about dark blue skies that really light up a place.

Well done for venturing out Gerald... at least Dowson road is well lit. Nice you captured the moon. Taking pictures while out and about at night is something I've not concidered.... seeing I wake up often in the night it might be an idea to get out and see of the town looks at 'daft o-clock' ....

I like the composition of this. It looks like an early evening shot with that lighter sky but is probably lit by the light of the zebra crossing.

Lovely shot -- but why didn't they paint the new post?

That is a great picture and I like the title of your post! I don't go out at night much either, so I ended up posting a picture of something in my front yard.

Gerald, I almost posted a twilight picture myself for the night theme day. Mime photo also included the moon. Instead, I posted a spot illuminated ruin, which in La Antigua Guatemala we have plenty.

Nice one. It looks like the moon is bouncing between the two lamps!

What is the little yellow sign on the right for? For crossing road sign? Look cute, how the put the sharp pin down. instead of pin up.

I've never heard it call zebra crossing before either, but I can see why it is. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't notice the new pole hadn't been painted until it was mentioned. Obviously that is the job of another department who'll be around in due course no doubt.

That is one of the new-style bollards, cheaper, more bendable and easier to take knocks when hit by a vehicle. On the left is an older style bollard - does more damage to a car's bodywork when hit!

Nice choice for the theme day. I especially like your moon and sky.

There's no excuse for failing to see that crossing! Maybe there is a long twilight zone. For a silly observation: the poles could double so as to tell how deep the snow is!

The lights look great in the twilight.
