The White White Lion
On the side of the White Lion public house is a porcelain frieze of a lion.
It isn't white and its details are unclear so here I have post-processed my image to effectively highlight and whiten the edges.
You can view the original photograph on Geograph.
There are more W posts to be discovered on ABC Wednesday.

I wonder does the lion is also a hundred years old? I sure like to have a drink in a 100 year-old pub.
White lion has intrigued me. I am used to Red Lion's and White Hart's but not White Lion.
I am having difficulty leaving a comment on Sitenah. Probably me.
After looking at the original, I must say I like how you've presented this. Excellent!
How curious that the "white lion" isn't really white, at least not naturally. You did a good job with your highlights.
Hello dear Gerald!
I think this Lion is fabulous!
We have one here just in our home! LOL
I mean my daughter Marina not Luna ( kitty) please! LOL
Thanks for all information! I liked a lot your picture!

A very proud lion even if he isn't actually white!
Very effective treatment you've given the white lion, Gerald.
Always learning something new.
WV: recom, as in recommended.
It looks great. (The first impression was simmilarity to the assyrian art, but the original photograph makes it clear.)
this is lovely!
Hi Gerald
Neat work here.. this is a pub I have drank in many a time... the tiles on the outside are matched by others on the inside... This pub as always been very popular.... at one time it was know for the number of old people that drank there... It was said it was the only pub in Hyde with a hand rail to the dart board.
How kingly he looks! Great photo...
Excellent photo Gerald. I can vividly remember the White Lion....lots of green and brown glazed tiles everywhere, and every senior citizen within a ten mile radius used to drink there!
You did a great job - he certainly looks white to me!
A robinson's pub ?
Usually is when there are tiles.
Like the Robin Hood in Ashton Under Lyne
