Mini-roundabouts

This is known as a mini-roundabout.

Traffic is supposed to go around it, but they are built so that large vehicles can drive over them.

This one is in the Flowery Field area of town.

Roundabouts are appearing in the States now, one is being built near where I work. Very nice photo of your roundabout.

I think I would miss this one. I am not good at trying to get around one.

These painted on roundabouts are so funny to us in US!
My friends at work who travel to Brize Norton twice a year have told me about these. I'll have to forward your post to them - they get such a kick out of it.
Last year in France while on a business trip with a FRENCH speaking GPS (no-even our French collegues could not figure out how to set it to English) we had the cars following us go about 3 times around a roundabout before figuring out what offshoot we have to make.
BTW - in Long Beach there is a large one at Lakewood Blvd & Pacific Coast Hwy, that's been there for 30 yrs or so.

I saw my first one ever just in the this area. It might even be the same since we were visiting Manchester and driving around among the smaller towns in the hills surrounding the city.

Roundabouts in UK or Singapore are the most challenging traffic situation you can meet.
Normally we manage, but that is most thanks to TomTom

Hi Gerald. As Denise said, these are popping up around here now, which really confuses us. I have never seen one without some sort of big, permanent monument in the middle of the roundabout. I always through that a roundabout was more or less a concession to what was already there when cars started driving on foot paths or wagon trails. I never thought of it as a real design element in traffic flow.

It looks very small to accommodate cars. The ones we have here have concrete centres that would smash the under body if you missed and drove through the middle!

Ahh, the mini rounabout. The most pointless traffic/road thing ever invented. Nobody goes round them. They are just like a big round speed bump.

I could not drive there, sitting on the wrong side of the car, driving on the wrong side of the road, and now going round and round. So to turn left, you make a loop to the right then slingshot out of the circle... I am so confused.

The main reason for having the mini roundabouts is to force you to give way to the right. Thats all

Don't even bother to drive around them. I'm sure town planners all over the country are laughing at anyone who goes of of there way to.

at first it looks like one of those fields with strange designs on it, a bit like the white horse carved into the ground, but maybe in the shape of flying saucer!

I think these mini-roundabouts are silly......

A mini-roundabout?! Now I've seen everything!
It would never work with Israeli drivers. hehe
Thanks for enlightening me.
