Inside St Thomas the Apostle
The 2007 Photo of the Year was of St Thomas the Apostle.
Yesterday as part of the Heritage Open Days I was able to go inside, take photos, have a cup of tea and chat to some folk.
The East Window features the figure of Christ as Love a design which first made an appearance in 1895 in Albion Congregational Church, Ashton under Lyne.
Look out for more pictures from this 1868 built church over the next couple of months.

I've known about Heritage Open Days for a long time. I'd like to time a visit to take advantage of it one of these years.
Lovely stained glass windows!
The church isn't open or used regularly? I'm just wondering because you said it was part of the Heritage Open Days.
Hilda the church is active but the days when churches were always open are long gone.
The HODs are an opportunity for them to display their history to the general public.
Thank you for answering my question. I thought the HODs were specific to buildings that weren't usually open to the public. Your description makes them sound even better.
Beautiful!
Nice stained glass. It looks like a lovely church, glad you got to have a nose around. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Oh no I missed the heritage days weekend. Just googled it to check the dates. Pity it clashed with the Thames Festival. Are there other heritage days throughtout the year?
Wonderful windows, I like the design.
