Rock Street

This is Rock Street off Stockport Road, Gee Cross, opposite the newsagents.

For the benefit of viewers unfamiliar with UK road markings; the double-yellow lines on the side of the road indicate no parking at any time and the reason why the white line down the middle of the road has changed to a zig-zag is to indicate the presence of a pedestrian crossing ahead.

There is a little name-sign on the house on the right. Next week I'll tell you what the name is. Meanwhile you are welcome to make a guess.

The wavy lines must be a challenge for the drivers who had a pint too many. I enjoy your scenes of the English towns and countryside. I stop by a couple of times a week to catch up with where you and your camera have traveled.

Could it say "Gee Cross". Even blown up something megabig it is still difficult to decode.

Is it the name of the street? In Holland(sorry: the Netherlands) it will be! But then we do everything the other way round! We drive on the right side of the street. Married women use their husbands names first then their maiden names. Mrs Jansen-Smid, means her husband's family name is Jansen, while her maiden name is Smid. I had to explain this in Australia. In addresses we write first the streetname then the number: Downingstreet 10.So we Dutch are slightly different! LOL.

Never noticed the house name before Gerald... to think that quite little street is the home of a World Boxing Champ.... :O) or it is until he finds a more suitable home as folks keep peeping in his windows.. Ricky Hatton lives at the top of this road.

As I live 30 seconds from GX village, I know what it says!
