Construction on King Edward Avenue
This was taken several weeks ago from the top of Treacle Brow.
At one time there was a quarry here, and in more recent times a timber-yard.
Now new apartments are being built.

Hyde is also an old village? I find the history of that one lot amazing. Very few sections of Metro Manila are very old. Usually, what you see is the original structure.
We are remaking of Singapore. So there are lots of construction going on around the island.
That's all they seem to build these days. There's loads gone up in Nottingham, but the thing is that none are selling now as not everyone wants to live in a flat with no garden.
Thankyou for updating your list with my now working blog! I have not been well but hopefully I will keep on top of things now! Thankyou also for sharing your world with us:)
Hi Gerald
This area once belonged to a Frederick Howard Whittaker, of 'Silver Hill' known to his generation as the 'King of Hyde' The quarry was called 'Hunt Croft' and he erected curious building which bore the name of 'Whittakers Whim' It was built directly oppersite Treacle Hill, It was 5 storeyed building, the top two storeys front the Stockport Road. Mr Whittaker enclosed the ground behind this building with a stone wall. His intention was to make this spot "Gee Cross Market Place".
It never took of and the building fell into disrepair and the top two storeys were removed and the big wall was built that still stands now in parts.
My 'old' house (it was built in 2001!) in London was built on a site like this. Previously the land had belonged to a dodgy garage, I was always digging up old car parts in the garden!
Ah, another spot of new apartments. We are getting these springing up all over the place. People of the future won't have houses to live in!
I love building.
We have stuff going up across the street from us.
I think I'll do a daily blog.
history marches on....
