Tamping Down

You may remember this hole in the road some weeks back.

It has been filled in now and today's photograph shows two of the workmen tamping down the sand. The whole thing has now been covered over and the road surface tarmacked.

Gerald, you have a great talent for making even the most mundane things interesting through your photos. Thanks.

Ahhh...roadworks. In the town I grew up in we used to say there were two seasons: winter and orange barrel season (could only do real roadwork in the summer).

I like this sort of photo very much, Gerald. Thanks for posting it!

This could be a scene anywhere in Sydney. Our tradesmen wear this sort of garish gear too. I gather it is so that they are noticeable - but I wonder if it rather type-casts them as "rough trade".

This shot caught my eye in the portal today, Gerald. Very nice composition and all.

They're doing roadwork around here, too. Drives me nuts to have to drive way out of my way sometimes just to come back to a road that is now bumpy because of the work they've done.

Thanks for the comment about retirement. I hope my husband is busy, too. That's the thing that worries me about his quitting: I hope he finds enough to fill his time.
