Scout Hut now gone
I reported earlier that the scout hut on Hill Street was about to be demolished to make way for a new one.
Yesterday on my way back from Gee Cross Fete I walked up Hill Street and took this picture of the now cleared site.

We have blogs and the kids have video games with no time for scouts or other youth groups, no wonder there are so many larger than life people around (the waist)
a sad desolate looking sight...
The scout hut is like me - gone! Well nearly. I'm going to Greece for my hols, so I'll catch up on Hyde next week.
A nice new scout hut will appear soon I hope!
How sad, never to be seen again. The old guidehut on Silverhill Road was condemned nearly 40 years ago, but it's still there.
Gerald thanks for keeping people posted on the progress of the hut, As you know I am the Group Scout Leader and the more aware people are of our plight the better,The need for funds to get the new building under way as soon as we can is always to of our agenda. We have just received our best ever donation towards the building fund a cheque for £25,000 yes the noughts are right 25 THOUSAND POUNDS from "GREENCROFT ESTATES(HYDE)LIMITED" With support like this we will soon be moving in the new Headquarters, hopefully more LOCAL companies or individuals will dig deep and give as after all the building will be there for use by the "COMMUNITY" it will be there for all to use hopefully we will be more of a community centre than just a scout hut we are here to help and right now we need that help in return. Once again Thanks for posting the pictures, the web site has changed it is now www.3rdgeecrossscouts.btik.com
Sorry this is long but as you can see I had a lot to say THANKS.
