Makes me wonder how long ago those old stones were stacked into a wall, and by whom?
That style of wall with the pointy top reminds me of reservoir walls, which, i think, are not that old.
So maybe near the reservior that you visit now and then.
Whilst my parter in crime is still napping in his bed I'll have a good shot at it on my own - it's the school wall at Holy Trinity School!
Or the wall overlooking the new school at Backbower
Well, I have absolutely no idea where that wall is but what a great image of it! I have such fond memories of seeing so many walls when hiking in the UK many years back.
(Thanks for visiting my blog)

Now that is really a tough one Gerald.
But I like photos of walls
Oh yes, it will be difficult for people around the world to locate this wall. I guess it is in Hyde, isn't it?
Gerald, I have a hard time finding out why my list of blogs doesn't work. I have found the right html code and I have replaced "the old one" but still it does not work..... I have looked for a solution everywhere in the forum and on CDPB site... Moreover when I upload photos, I get their html code first. I don't know why. My blog changed unexpectedly :-)) That's a big mystery. If you could let me know where to go, I would be very grateful to you.......
How about the canal wall that was in your "best of" photos?
Well I know which wall it isn't - The Great Wall Of China!
if you notice, that wall has morter holding the blocks of stone together, the old walls in Northern England are Dry Stone Walls with no morter, so I guess built in the 1800s.
Good shot, the price is a beautiful photo we all can see.
Ilike these interesting textures and subtle colors. I will guess this is in Hyde, UK. Am I wrong? ;)
Anyway a fine looking wall with a beautiful "chanfrein". I like this word (it's the french name when you cut (smooth) a sharp angle on a parallelepiped.
A clear case of stonewalling!
