Victoria Street Railings

The War Memorial at Cartwright Street, Newton is actually on Victoria Street, the former street bending round to the left, whilst Victoria Street carries on towards Matley.

The streets are separated by these wrought iron railings.

More V posts can be seen on the ABC Wednesday Anthology blog.

Others can be found via the ABC Wednesday with Mister Linky which carries a registry of participants.

I liked the composition of that one. Victoria would have been amused.

I've never seen green ironwork before, let alone topped with gold. Very nice. Is this color combination common in the UK?

What a very pretty fence. What a very pretty name for a street; Victoria!

Parks tend to be green railings that I have noticed. Victoria Street, must be one in every British town but not many with Wrought iron railings which I have a fondness for.

Please tell MartinC I don't like his new comment feature because
the security letters (Turing Test) is blank

This railing looks very inhospitable.

Railings can be so decorative, can't they? Sad that so many were torn up during the war.

I'm surprised they weren't cut up and used in the war effort. Very glad they weren't as they add something to the area.

Very pretty. I'd love to stroll around here. In Mumbai we had a few places with the name Victoria- like the Victoria Terminus and the Victoria Gardens, but now they have been renamed.
