Joseph Adamson and Company was at one time known all over the world for their engineering skills and products. Boiler making was just one of their products. Joseph's uncle Daniel Adamson was the founder of the Manchester Ship Canal. Adamsoms was a big employer at one time, but like a lot fell by the wayside and it as now been split into units, and shops and a Transport yard. There's still engineering carried on here, massive melting pots are made here and then taken to a smelting firm by the docks in London under police escourt all the way because the load is very wide.. I've been lucking enough to have done a few of these trips with one of the drivers I know.

I love old painted letters on the old warehouse buildings.

Some warehouses converted to condos in New Orleans keep the old company name.
