This picture is from inside Hyde Cemetery. I've shown you The Dead Centre of Hyde here before, but the first photographs I published of Hyde Cemetery were in connection with my account of Harold Fred Shipman, the murderous GP of Hyde.

The theme has also been touched on here with photographs of Unsafe Monuments, the graveyard at the rear of St Thomas The Apostle and Hyde Chapel's graveyard as seen in my photograph of the Village Stocks.

Thanks for being the first commenter on my blog (the first pic on the theme), and I return the compliment!

I think I definitely want trees in the cemetery where I'm buried ... Also, thank you for your list of blogs which have posted there theme post. I find myself using your post to drive my surfing on theme day

Trees definitely add a peaceful environment to a graveyard. Very nice!

The colors of eternal rest--the greens, grays, whites and creams--seem universal. They're particularly comforting in your photo.

It does look peaceful and pleasant. You've spent some time covering the cemetery - they are a very interesting and historical places.

How long has this cemetery been around? The more I've been reading about the historic value of cemeteries, the more it peaks my interest about a community.

I like the angle of this shot, peeking through the trees - the greens really do make the scene look quite tranquil (which I suppose it is, with all those very quiet people...).

Beautiful photograph and cemetery especially with those trees.

One of the nicest I've seen today, so many trees...

Beautiful cemetery. Gravestones and trees should go together...

The cemetery must have a rich history, judging by the very different types of headstones.

Trees make it peaceful. Love it.

I'll echo Denton on the service you provide with your lists! Thanks!

P.S. I'm running a little late on getting the postcards out. I have your address and will be sending one out before the end of the week, at the latest.

on dirait un cimetiere caché , et qu'il vaut faire l'effort pour decouvrir ces charmes

a hidden cemetery would be said, and which it is worth to make the effort to discover these charms

Hi Gerald,
Nice shots but it the theme right?
The theme made me think of my dad I posted a flower for him, instead of a stone or graveyard, thats a bit softer:)

Have a great week:)

The Hidden cemetery of Hyde ;-)

"May they rest in peace" - quite literally!

Yeah, I'm going to chip in and agree with Denton too. I've tried going by the list on my blog, but between folk who aren't up yet and those who have posted something else entirely despite registering for the theme, I'm getting a little weary.

But it also concerns me that this must take you a great amount of time and you must surely have other things you should be doing. We really should not come to rely on your generosity.

A very shade place!

Nice photo. I think cemeteries are more pleasant when there are trees.

Nice photo. Dear "hyde dp", my post about le père Lachaise is my second post of the day. The main one was posted this morning. But I found it important to mention le père Lachaise as many people from other countries than France are buried there (Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, etc).

This almost looks as if you were walking along a path and came upon the cemetery. Nice shot.

Gerald,
This cemetery is so lovely. Many of my ancestors are buried in your area of the country, so it wonderful to see this setting.

When I first read through your links, I completely missed your listing for SDP. Now I see you have entered the names of the cemeteries in each location. That is SO neat! As per Denton's comment, your listing as they go live is helpful. How do you generate the link list seeing there are many of us with feed/portal problems, so you didn't see us go live via the portal? Do you have other ways of detecting when pages go live, other than surfing the standard list over and over? Whatever way you do, it thanks for what to the rest of us seems a big labor of love!

Lovely photo.

Thanks for including my site in your list. I didn't register because I didn't think I'd manage to get the photo, but then it worked out after all.

That's a really nice take on the theme - much more cheerful than dismal.
