First Snow of Winter

It was raining yesterday morning but then it brightened up. Later on we had hailstones which covered the ground and piled up in corners. The sun came out again and they all disappeared.

About three o' clock the sky got very dark. I settled down and watched Ding win the first two frames of the Masters Snooker Final. I dozed off for a bit and when I awoke Ronnie had won four frames and the ground was covered in snow.

This was the scene about 7pm with this woman struggling to get up the street. Her wheels were spinning but eventually she made it. The gritters have been since and traffic is moving.

Oh, that poor woman - I remember how it feels!
I love that first blanket of snow, making everything quiet and clean-looking. Shortly after, however, the magic is lost on me ;-)))
Stay dry and safe!

Hi Gerald,

nice photo! I wish, the weather would behave a little bit like winter here, too! :-)

Congratulations on winter finally arriving. You were better off in side sleeping through the snooker game than spinning your wheels outside.

And WOW Gerald! Looks as if she's drifted to the wrong side of the road...EEEEEEEEEEEEEK! ;) I'd rather be inside all toasty warm too...stay safe if it continues to snow and you have to venture out! Brrrrrrrrrr! =)

Are you used to have some snow? Here, in Brittany, we have some flakes once or twice a year but everythink stops: no school, no buses, a big mess!

A bit of proper winter, instead of the hurricane season, would be great here!

We just got our first sticking snow of the season here in the northeast U.S., too. But it's hardly tire-spinning weather; the grass is poking through already.

"The gritters" = the guys who lay down salt?

From Cherbourg-Octeville DP ...

I've just been watching the TV pictures of folk flocking to the Devon beach to "salvage" the contents of its containers.

You are true Gerald. I saw the same pictures. I hope those folks will not find some toxic goods.

How come Hyde was so lucky? Not so much as a drop of rain here!

I love snow, but fear that we won't see any at all this winter!

I just googled with the sentence of 'we had the first snow this winter' to find the better expression, and surprisingly your post were shown on the first page. I was glad to see it, of course! How have you been doing, Gerald, and how are things with Hyde? Hope you are well.
