After the Wind
Yesterday the whole of Northern Europe was affected by high winds said to be the strongest for 17 years.
Compared with some we got off fairly lightly. The damage we suffered was only to our fencing. More pictures on my other blog Ackworth born, gone West
The milkman didn't turn up this morning so I couldn't have my cornflakes. Since I didn't go shopping yesterday for bread, toast isn't an option. I shall have to eat cake.
Other European DPs posting about the weather include: ** Arradon ** Brighton ** Budapest ** Hamburg ** Nottingham ** Rotterdam ** Vantaa ** Villigen

Hi from Madrid, Gerald
yesterday I spent all day at University so i didn't get notice of all what happened in North Europe... only visiting DP I'm hearing of that... In Madrid yesterday was cold and cloudy, but now it's sunny and blue sky. There is no wind in my neigborhood also, but it's cold anyway.
Sorry about yor breakfast... So MilkyMan goes everyday to your house with fresh-milk? You're lucky then :)
Let them eat cake!!!!
Big damage!
Thanks for doing a bit of a rounder on other DPs covering the storm, that's a great idea. I'm off to visit them.
I am glad you collected the DP links affected in the storm. It seems we have to prepare ourselves to strange weather in the (near) future in Europe.
A bad day with too much wind and without cornflakes...You make me smile, Gerald, even if the storm has been so cruel (29 dead people if i'm right). Hope the weather is calmer now, like here. Thanks for the link.
I think it was worse in Manchester than in Tameside. Fallowfield was on the news - unusual.
Scary weather, eh? I've watched it on the news. I grew up in Florida, and my experience tells me you've had a hurricane! :)
I'm glad you didn't have too much damamge but sorry you had any at all! I hope the wind calms down!
Awwwwwwww Gerald! Don't you just HATE not having any milk for your CEREAL? That's one of my absolute pet peeves! Sigh~~~~~
And glad this is all the damage you suffered...most important, you and your family are safe...
Take care...
=)
Let them eat cake
who said that? Marie Antionette
You sure had lots of wind, Vancouver also had lots of wind and lots of trees blown down and other damage, here in Oliver, we have been spared any bad weather, but we are haveing the coldest winter for quite a few years.
the weather's all going mad all around the world.
Yeah we saw that on the news here, incl the 2 little Manchester girls "and then a whole chunk of the school fell off...." WOW.
Yes I saw the news and all the storm damage that has been done. Thanks for the links I will make sure to visit them too.
