This how they sweep the roads here, well the gutters anyway. I caught this little monster in Henry Street.
Of course it can only clean the pavement edges when they aren't occupied by
parked cars

I hope your camera survived the experience; it looks as though those brushes are throwing more dust around than they're sweeping up.
Well, we have the same in France. The French cleaning teams also drive some trucks equipped with huge water tanks to wash the pavement. In other words, you would have your lens and feet washed in such a place :)
