It is a bit difficult to get a clear photo of Hyde Festival Theatre without the recyclying bins in Asda's carpark getting in the way.
Originally the Alexander Cinema and Billiard Hall it became a theatre in 1953. Currently it is home to several amateur societies and stages around twelve different productions a year.
Whilst it thrives, the Theatre Royal next door is in much disrepair. An Edwardian theatre it was more recently a cinema. A trust set up in 2000 is attempting to preserve and restore the listed building.
