It comes from strip mining...or I guess you could call it surface mining. (Out there where I take my photos it was for coal.) Lots of time I think they have to keep the water pumped away while they actually mine. Then when they are done the area fills with water and we refer to them as strip pits. Some are rather shallow and some are pretty deep. Most of them are stocked with fish--bluegill, crappie, bass and I am not sure what else. Those are the ones I have caught. Oh and catfish.Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08015780995837712115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25658231.post-90453068071034909872009-02-04T19:03:00.000+00:002009-02-04T19:03:00.000+00:00you home area seems so sleepy and quiet - does any...you home area seems so sleepy and quiet - does anyone ever let their hair down? ever???Maria Verivakihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10440852486788630957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25658231.post-69036272614122862042009-02-04T14:35:00.000+00:002009-02-04T14:35:00.000+00:00I always like seeing whats around the bend.
